My Life

I was told that Life could be just what I made it
It could be fashioned and worn like a gown,
I, the designer, mine the decision
Whether to wear it with a bonnet or a crown.

And I selected the prettiest pattern
So that my life is made of the rosiest hue,
Something unique, and a bit out of fashion
One that perhaps would be chosen by few.

But other folks came and leaned over my shoulder
Someone questioned the ultimate cost,
Somebody tangled the thread I was using
And one day I found that my scissors were lost.

And somebody claimed the material faded
A few suggested it was not worth a corn,
Someone's fingers, too pointed and spiteful
Snatched at the cloth, and it was torn.

Oh! somebody tried to do all the sewing
Stretching all muscles and tiring each bone,
Here is my life, the product of many, But
Where is that gown I could fashion all alone?

Your Wish

If you wish the World were better
Then let me tell you what to do,
Set a watch upon your actions
Keep them always straight and true.
Get rid your mind of selfish motives
Let your thoughts be clean and high,
You can make a little Eden
Of the huge sphere you occupy.

If you wish the World were wiser
Then I suppose you make a start,
By accumulating all the wisdom
In the scrap book of your heart.
Do not waste even a page on folly
Live to learn and learn to live,
If you want to give men knowledge
You must get it before you give.

If you wish the World were happy
Then remember at the start of day,
Just to scatter seeds of kindness
As you pass along the way.
Live in what you think and feel
Put your dreams in actions to do,
The present world is simply waiting
For your wish and just for you...

Star World

I went to a planetarium one day
To visit the stars and the Milky Way,
To see the Orion's Belt, and the Big Dipper too,
And to meet the glowing stars along with their crew.

The stars gleamed like diamonds against an ocean of black
As I looked up at the ceiling to the sides, front and the back,
Impossible to count the stars for there were many
Except the black hole, where I didn't find any.

Taurus, the Bull and Cassiopeia, the Queen
Were part of the night sky I had never seen,
Constellations of Sagittarius and Gemini, the Twins
All made up of stars like the heads of tiny pins.

No matter which way I look up in the sky
I could see stars throughout the corners of each eye,
The Signs of the Zodiac were this way and that,
Shooting stars were right above me, over the seat where I sat.

I went to a planetarium that day
To visit the stars and the Milky Way,
Now when I look at the night from my room,
I see lots more than just the stars and the Moon...

I Died Last Night

I died last night, in that deep blue sea
Why weren’t you there, when you had promised to be,
In the cold water, I called your name
But u didn't come when things were not the same.

Each wave of the water, pulled me deep inside
I couldn’t get you out of my head, no matter how much I tried,
Thinking of you in my last moment, I guess that’s just fair
Before I give up, tell me, did you ever really care?

I died last night, in that deep blue sea
But I had stopped living, the day you set me free...
